How do I start?

Install GeoTask from the Google Play Store and sign in with your Google account. Allow location all the time, and allow notifications. Your first task takes seconds.

What does the app do?

It attaches a place to your Google Tasks, alerts you as you approach one, and keeps everything in sync with your calendar.

How does the geolocation work?

The app follows your device's position to compare it with your tasks' places. Your position is never sent to Google, to GeoTask, or to anyone else.

Why do events show up in my calendar?

That is where the place is kept. Google Tasks cannot store coordinates, so GeoTask creates a quiet event in your main calendar and attaches the task's position to it. Deleting the event removes the place, not the task. Nothing leaves your Google account.

How do the notifications work?

You get a notification when you pass near one of your tasks. The radius is set to fire at the right moment without alerting you from too far away.

I am not getting any notifications.

Check three things: location is allowed all the time, notifications are enabled, and the task's due date is in the future. A completed task fires nothing.

Notifications arrive late.

The same task spaces out its reminders so it does not overwhelm you. If the delay goes well beyond that, remove GeoTask from your phone's battery optimisation: that is the usual cause.

Does the app work without a connection?

Yes for tasks you already created: they keep firing their notifications. Creating a new task needs a connection.

Is my position shared?

No. Your position is never sent to Google, to GeoTask, or to anyone else. No personal data is collected and no advertising is shown.

Which devices are supported?
